Abstract
The current publication aims to bring back to the public’s attention one of the most dramatic pages in recent history, when, according to estimates, approximately 200,000 people lost their lives in the post-war period. An attempt is made to bring to light alarming data and factual situations, likely to demonstrate the trauma that continues to mark entire families, a tragedy that has left deep traces in Moldovan families, transmitted from generation to generation. This dramatic period demonstrates deliberate policies of the Soviet regime, designed to control the population and reduce any form of opposition. At the same time, we tried to cultivate the urge to assume historical truth and preserve collective memory.
